That Stupid Blue Box

oh Hey I just Remembered... you know that blue box that appears around an image when you make the image a link? Well I figured out how to get rid of it finally..
[img src="Images/yim2.jpg alt="IM" width="224" height="236" border="0px" >]

in the above code the part that makes the box go away is the [border="0px"] but as far as I can tell you actually have to type that in as part of your code

Christmas Break

I'm Glad I took this class. All the Good times, Great ideas, and Creative projects. It's been a crazy 16 weeks and I'm glad everything I've learned from this class is going to come in handy. So My plan is to hack the crap out of this thing called "Windows Home Server" developed by Microsoft. Basically it's a full on data base server but it's a mini version for home use rather than large applications. it has a web page that allows you to access your data and Archives on the server, but it doesn't allow you to modify that page at all or add other pages... so of course I want to hack it. I don't do very well with limitations... something about them is just begging to get proven Wrong

Sand Castle Art (Sahand Reiisieh)

Hello everyone, below are some images of perhaps some of the most beautiful and difficult works of arts you will ever see. These massive detailed structures are all made from sand. But not like just any sand castle you'd make going to the beach, but structures which display the most detailed figures and structures you'll ever see. each one of these masterpieces take hours upon hours to complete, only to come victim to the elements and only be remembered and seen by the many videos and pictures taken.

Hello everyone, as we all know the holidays are fast approaching and when we think of holidays we think of the famous coca cola commercials! below is a link to view a history of all the beautiful coca cola ads from throughout the years showing all the changes and alterations they have been through. Many don't know but the image of santa clause was actually first presented in the earliest coca cola ads! so you can thank coca cola for giving us the idea of santa clause's jolly red suit and beard.

However, at the end result a beautiful masterpiece is created that will blow your mind! can you guess what it is???

Library

Its 10:45pm at night on Monday and the library is still packed. I would swear the library was handing out A's to all the people that are here. This is so different from my community college that I went to. I mean the library was packed but everyone was in the computer lab area checking e-mails or playing online games. Not that many people were doing work. At CSUN though everybody is studying or finishing up there last papers it looks like. Library is also open until 2am just a reminder.

Websites

Just wanted to say that I looked at the websites and thought everybody did a great job. We all learned alot this semester in the class.

Congrats to everyone

We did it! The semester is practically over..to anyone who still has finals, you can do it! Just push through and it feels amazing once you finish.

This has been a great semester for me and I learned a lot of in each of my classes. It was my last semester at CSUN, my hardest semester and the semester that I learned the most.

Great way to end my time here!

Best of luck to everyone, and congratulations on finishing your projects for this class - every one that I've seen looks great!

I had to fix my project because I ended up putting my index page on the wrong folder. I had to re-link all the pages and pics that I had to move. but atleast it's done now.-Leonardo P.

Almost Done

Man, this last project really worked me. Kept running into dead ends and not knowing how to fix the problems. Yet, 5 rockstars and one all-nighter later, I got her all done. Feels good to almost be done with the semester. Goodluck on finals!

Is someone deleting people's posts and comments?

So, I just checked the blog to check how many posts I have done...and I only have 4. I am confused because I have posted every week! I don't know where my posts have gone, maybe I forgot to put my name and they got deleted?

Has anyone else had their posts disappear?

I hope everyone finishes their projects on time and I am excited to see them next week!

Good luck to everyone on finals, they start in exactly one week :-/

Running out of Inspiration?

Finding new and creative ways to present your information is challenging. Many web designers often will use other websites as inspiration for their work.

You can find a handful of some of the best work on the internet at http://thebestdesigns.com/

- Cole Turner.

Picture Editing Websites

The website that I used for our e-book projects was lunapic.com It's a website where you can do some editing on images, like photoshop. However there are a couple of downsides that I should warn you about.

First of all the site can be difficult to work with at times. When I tried uploading new pictures after working on 3 or 4, the website did something weird to them and I ended up messing up a few.

Second it's limited in some features, especially photoshop basics. You might be able to find some if you look around enough, but primal features like painting and drawing are pretty primitive. Like Window's 'Paint' program primitive. XP

and Third the images might not work properly on websites, especially gifs. Sometimes pictures turn out drastically different to what you saw on the site, like a gif image that moves ten times slower than on lunapic. This ties in with the first warning in that the site is like working with an old, rundown scanner.

But don't let these daunt you from wanting to use the site. It's still a convenient place to jazz up your pictures, especially if you're like me and don't have iMacs or photoshop. And who knows, maybe you'll get something good out of this place.

--Patricia B.

Oh, another alternative [if some of you don't know] is photobucket.com. They keep changing the site so that you can do some pretty interesting editing to pictures, so I'd give it a whirl too. And if you want to know where I got my pics, I either googled them or got them off deviantart.com. [see one of my last posts on "Deviantart."]

=]

I hope everyone'll like the class site.. I think its coming out good.
I'm still worried about my blogs being counted.. haha i dont know how many ive done so far since my 5th one..
-jasmine awad

Don't Let the "Tough" stuff intimdate you. Challenge them.

Recently I've noticed I've been taking on stuff that would prove challenging in many ways, and have had results that have exceeded my expectations. A lot of times I considered either avoiding them or going about it through the easy way so that I wouldn't have to stress. But looking at it now and seeing the things that I was capable of doing, I'm glad that I took on the challenges in the end. I even found the progress of committing to the task really enjoyable.

It just goes to show you that even though things look "tough", you should face them head on so that you won't regret it.

Project 2 text

I have my story done, but I need to do the pictures. I can't do it tomorrow and need to work on my other major projects this week. Work takes most of my time and I have been to worn out to work on it most of the days. Depression's a bitch.

Christopher Brown

Thanks gibbing

Wow that went by really fast. It was supposed to be a weekend of gaming followed by a few days of school work then a long weekend. instead it ended up being a lot of computer work. I spent most of thanksgiving working on the project 2 layouts and some of it with my girlfriend. yeah, she was kinda mad even though she thought building web pages is cool. I don't have to worry to much about it though because we split on Saturday. it's ok we've been arguing most of the time anyways. Friday I was trying to animate an image so it looks like an IM conversation going on in the browser and I'm not sure how to do the typing effect any suggestion

Thanksgiving Break

Every year thanksgiving rolls around and I promise myself that I'm going to use my vacation wisely and use it to get ahead (or catch up) with homework and studying. Yet, just like last year, once the family started showing up and the tequila began to flow, there was no way I was getting anything done. But at the end of the day I wasn't that disappointed because I got to spend some much needed time with my family. Got to eat a lot, drink a lot, and sleep like a bear too. I guess one way to look at it is that im rejuvenated and ready to take on finals. I am a bit worried about our last project though; the due date came up so fast. The pressure is on so I better get focused. Goodluck with your last few weeks of school everyone.

Keep It Classy,

Project Two is due

Greeting Art 201,

As you already know our project 2 is due December 2nd. The Idea of this project centralizes around an abstract and artistic depiction of a scrap book.

We will be graded for our originality as well as our use of skill in Dream Weaver. But after all of our in class assignments using Dream Weaver, this should be easier than it was before :).

Congratulations class, we've come a very long way.

On Tweens

I have to redo this post because it appears that it did not post last time. When you do tweens in flash animation you should convert it to keyframes. Then add an extra frame on every other frame and then delete the other single frames. You do this because the tweens does not look natural in the motion. If you do this it brings the animation how it suppose to look throughout the animation. Using tweens is fine but without changing the frame works, it looks to mechanical and lifeless.

Nearing an End

As finals come upon us yet again I find myself realizing how behind I already am. Pretty soon i'll be locking myself in my study dungeon; which is where i'll probably stay until school gets out for winter. I'm going to eat as much as I possible can on Thursday, take a long nap, and then eat some more. Gotta love Thanksgiving! Good luck on your final projects everyone.

Downloadable customized tools

Hi guys, Some of you may already know this, but I found out you can download customized tools for Photoshop. File nightmare

So Helping a friend with a website this week I realized something...
on a server Organization is everything. We were trying to figure out why certain pages would show up one minute but not the next and many times the wrong pictures would show up in the pages on the site. I can't stress enough to everybody out there
keeping your data organized in folders followed by sub folders will always save your A$$. Also keep the same file structure for your work. that way backing up your info and sorting through it is easy and you don't spend four day sifting through a few terabytes of data...

I was also wondering if anyone would know the repercussions of making a production network of gamers and programmers completely web based. They will mainly be saving their data to the server from their homes to a server located at my home. They will also be using a forum and moodle served from my home internet connection.

Flash is faster!

The advantage of Flash is that you can use the same image multiple times, and Flash beyond this use vector graphics, which are graphics created by mathematics rather than traditional "bitmap-graphics". Thus taking Flash only a fraction of the time an image takes to download. For example, in an animation where a ball jumps across the screen, it would with Flash be the same ball jumping across the screen. But when using for example a GIF animation, it would be a whole series of images played in sequence. This means that for each frame a new picture has to be downloaded even if there has been almost no change compared to the previous picture.

Something about Tweens

When you use tweens in a flash animation, you should convert the tweens to frames and then add a frame to every other frame. This makes your animation less mechanical looking. Tweens makes animation to smooth and looks different than your other animation in the file. The smoothness distracts the viewer from your animation, which you don't want.
